Read Thru the Bible in a Year

We are pleased to offer a simple Read Thru the Bible in a Year schedule for your use. There are many fine programs out there to help you do this, and we would simply like to add one more. Reading through the Bible in a year is an excellent way to fellowship with the Lord, to maintain discipline in having daily devotions, and to see the whole message the Bible presents. We highly recommend this practice. The beginning of a new year is a perfect time to start such a program. It will only take 15-20 minutes a day, but it will be well worth your while!

The strength of our schedule is that it keeps you going back and forth between the two Testaments regularly. Though there are disadvantages to this back-and-forth way, we believe that it is important for the believer to spend time regularly in the New Testament. Schedules that have you read straight through the Bible tend to put off the New Testament until the final two or three months of the year. Thus, you are spending up to ten months a year outside the New Testament. We like to have people in the New Testament throughout the year, so we believe our schedule is one way of achieving this goal. We have also endeavored to carefully balance the amount of daily reading assigned so that you are reading about the same amount each day. Other schedules tend to be light in some books with short chapters and longer in other books. We have tried to balance the daily reading by length rather than necessarily by number of chapters.

I am pleased at long last to publish the electronic edition of Eretz Israel The Land of Jehovah & The Inheritance of Israel. This work by AustenD is a brief guide book to sites in Israel. It references scores of important sites in the Biblical land of Israel.

Each site has sections that include: Location, Biblical Records (the majority of significant mentions of that site in the Bible), Archaeology (a brief synopsis of archaeologically significant material relating to that site), Occupation History (which archaeological time periods were active at that site), Excavation History (significant archaeological digs at that site), Discoveries (certain important archaeological discoveries at that site), and Noteworthy Things. It has an exhaustive index as well as other useful features including a brief chart of archaeological time periods, a list of selected important dates in Israel's history, a glossary of terms, and maps.

It is a must-have companion for anyone visiting the modern state of Israel. It is also quite useful for anyone wishing a better understanding of Biblical places. It is a highly practical, concise source of information on many Biblical sites in Israel. It certainly is not an exhaustive scholarly work, but it's greatest strength is the wealth of information in one quick and easy reference work. Hopefully, its contents will encourage the Bible Student to pursue other sources of information on the material he or she is exposed to in this work.
